Sawdust Art & Craft Festival

The annual Sawdust Art & Craft Festival in Laguna Beach, California is a highly anticipated summer experience. It ends on August 30th, so don’t miss an opportunity to meet over 200 local artisans and buy their designs in person. You will want to go back multiple times. This artist village in Laguna has a refreshing environment between the canyon and beach breeze. Sawdust is spread throughout the grounds and it reminds you that woodworking has been done for this year’s creations. We wore our favorite Chisme Chick leather and handcrafted bracelets. This year, we met new artists and saw some incredible glass blowing demonstrations.

We participated in a pastel workshop and took this photo of our still life arrangement. There was a small bug (featured in this photo) hiding in the vase and watched us add each stroke on the piece of paper.

Be sure to try the on grounds café where they have delicious coffee and desserts. You’ll enjoy the sounds of live music throughout the festival. They also host the Winter Fantasy starting on November 21st-December 20th with many of the same artisans. Be sure to stop by and purchase unique gifts.

Yarn Bombing

#Yarn bombing has become a creative sensation since 2005. We discovered this #craft in Scottsdale, an artistic community in Arizona. People use leftover yarn to knit or crochet a patchwork piece that typically have vibrant colors. This public installation is found at The Lab in Costa Mesa. We love the collaborative nature of these community projects and hope you have an opportunity to participate.

Happy Mother’s Day

Happy Mother’s Day! We love James Abbott McNeill Whistler’s portrait of his mother on display at the Norton Simon. The exhibit, Tête-à-tête (head-to-head), features other masterpieces from the Musée d’Orsay.
