We hope that this will be your best holiday season ever!
Before my story takes a further pace,
It seems a reasonable thing to say
What their condition was, the full array
Of each of them, as it appeared to me,
According to profession and degree,
And what apparel they were riding in. (The Canterbury Tales, 36-41)
Summer travels! Our Canterbury Collection leather coin purses are a perfect way to store your treasures collected on your journey. These colors were inspired from some of Chaucer’s characters. The annual Sawdust Art & Craft Festival in Laguna Beach, California is a highly anticipated summer experience. It ends on August 30th, so don’t miss an opportunity to meet over 200 local artisans and buy their designs in person. You will want to go back multiple times. This artist village in Laguna has a refreshing environment between the canyon and beach breeze. Sawdust is spread throughout the grounds and it reminds you that woodworking has been done for this year’s creations. We wore our favorite Chisme Chick leather and handcrafted bracelets. This year, we met new artists and saw some incredible glass blowing demonstrations.
We participated in a pastel workshop and took this photo of our still life arrangement. There was a small bug (featured in this photo) hiding in the vase and watched us add each stroke on the piece of paper.
Be sure to try the on grounds café where they have delicious coffee and desserts. You’ll enjoy the sounds of live music throughout the festival. They also host the Winter Fantasy starting on November 21st-December 20th with many of the same artisans. Be sure to stop by and purchase unique gifts.
Chisme Chick is now offering gift wrap options for our array of products. These handmade tags were dipped in coffee to provide a rustic look and soft aroma. You can customize a handwritten script message that is tied with twine. We can also add a touch from our garden with freshly cut leaves or a sprig of lavender.

Everyone has a story. A life blanket is stitched with a hidden narrative based on the color combinations. As featured in the picture, the array of color charts the various stages in life. It can commemorate momentous occasions to the beauty of everyday living.
In modern commercialism, many times we don’t ask the following questions when purchasing an object:
-Who made this item?
-Why did someone make it?
-When was it designed?
-What was its purpose?
A skilled artisan who has been crocheting for decades will complete this project rather than an unknown weaver. Commission a crocheted blanket that charts your life by designating a color for particular time in your life. You would select the colors and the order in which they are stitched. For instance, your story could begin with you being born in America and you would select red, white, and blue yarn. Then you could share that you loved your childhood home which was constructed out of brick and select brick red. You can add your school colors, etc. Share your vision and we will design a made to order blanket. It measures 5ft. W X 6ft. H.
This heirloom gift will be a conversation piece. According to historian Laurel Thatcher Ulrich, “In the early republic, a homemade blanket was worth displaying.” Women especially prized these homemade goods since it was viewed as “movable property” which could be passed down generationally through the maternal line.
We prize our array of handmade throws which were even featured at a local museum. These timeless pieces are cherished by their owners. A life blanket will be a wonderful addition to any home. It can become an heirloom that will be shared for many generations. Laurel Thatcher Ulrich, The Age of Homespun: Objects and Stories in the Creation of an American Myth. New York: Knopf, 2001), 335.

“I will honour Christmas in my heart, and try to keep it all the year. I will live in the Past, the Present, and the Future. The Spirits of all Three shall strive within me. I will not shut out the lessons that they teach!”
― Charles Dickens, A Christmas Carol
Celebrate the Christmas season by wearing a cheerful red scarf. The miniature design is for your favorite cat or small dog. This handmade duo captures the joy of the holidays. Please specify any custom variations. The scarves featured in the photo are available for immediate purchase.
This San Juan Capistrano Obsidian arrowhead pendant was designed with gold craft wire. The natural stone captures the light. Black Obsidian, a volcanic rock, is believed to have been used in designing primitive mirrors and tools. You can now wear this symbol of early society to connect with ancient lifestyles.
